How to optimize performance in sports?

Imagine the following situation: your target race is approaching, training sessions are becoming more intense, and your body seems to be experiencing a cascade of complaints with no apparent explanation. Progress feels harder, chronic fatigue sets in, new pains appear, and your body isn’t responding as well as it used to. But your training is monitored; you do strength work and even stretch occasionally. So, what could be wrong?
This is the reality for many athletes in training, especially during level changes (like when you decide to take on that demanding target race) or even at the beginning of a sports practice when you have all these plans, but your body seems to be sabotaging you. Don’t lose motivation—there is an answer.
Many factors could explain this scenario, but from a mechanical perspective, there are two main causes: a capacity-demand imbalance and/or an imbalance in the myofascial chains and integrated systems.
A capacity-demand imbalance means that the intensity and periodization of your training need to be balanced so you can continue progressing without overloading your body, which could potentially lead to injury. For this, a professional with a deep understanding of movement, sports, and injuries is exactly what you need to rebalance your training and make necessary adjustments.
On the other hand, an imbalance in the myofascial chains refers to your structural organization (both static and dynamic). Simply put, when your myofascial system is tense and disorganized, you expend more energy than necessary, exert unnecessary effort, and create a series of compensations that could also result in injuries.
Recognizing the importance of an integrative approach, athletes from various sports have been turning to the Rolfing® Method to optimize sports performance and address persistent and chronic pain.
Through a deep, systematic therapeutic process emphasizing manual therapy and specifically tailored exercises, Rolfing® offers a high level of self-awareness and body consciousness. Combined with specific exercise training, this optimizes vulnerable areas and enhances physical capabilities, resulting in a more organized body, intelligent mechanics, and a reduced risk of injury.
